Kill the Past is the collective term for a number of related video games directed by SUDA51. The main theme in "Kill the Past" titles is the necessity for their protagonists to destroy relics of their past that burden and prevent them from moving forward. Oftentimes, characters find themselves at odds with previous events in their lives that must be confronted head-on for them to be at ease. Although each game in the series can be enjoyed as a stand-alone story, if taken as a whole, "Kill the Past" builds an overarching plot that does not end so much as it carries on where the last title left off.

The Silver Case (シルバー事件, Hepburn: Shirubā Jiken; lit: "Silver Incident") is a mystery adventure game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and published by the ASCII Corporation for the Sony PlayStation in October 1999. The story, co-written by Suda, Masahi Ooka and Sako Kato, is set in an alternate Japan in the year 1999 and follows two parallel storylines investigating a series of bizarre murders seemingly linked to a legendary serial killer responsible for a shocking incident twenty years before. Through the perspectives of the Heinous Crimes Unit's newly appointed detective Akira and freelance journalist Tokio Morishima, The Silver Case explores themes of identity, freedom of thought, social engineering, the early internet, access to information, and the nature of criminality.
Flower, Sun, and Rain (Japanese: 花と太陽と雨と, Hepburn: Hana to Taiyō to Ame to) is an adventure game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and published by Victor Interactive Software for the PlayStation 2 in May 2001. The game is set on the secluded Micronesian island of Lospass and follows Sumio Mondo, a "searcher by trade" whose profession involves locating lost objects on behalf of clients by using a mysterious silver briefcase. After being contracted to stop a terorrist bombing, Mondo finds himself trapped in a time loop that repeatedly sends him to the morning of the disaster, during which he gets constantly distracted by the banal requests and minor incoveniences of the eccentric locals and strange guests of the titular hotel: Flower, Sun, and Rain.
Set in an alternate timeline, killer7 follows the titular elite group of assassins, who are the seven physical transformations of the wheelchair-bound Harman Smith, an elderly man suffering from "Multifoliate Personae Phenomenon". Hired on behalf of the United States government to eradicate the rising supernatural terrorist threat known as Heaven Smile, the 'Smith Syndicate' eventually find themselves unraveling a dark conspiracy concerning the true nature of US-Japan relations and the secret of their origins. The complex political-thriller story of killer7 explores themes of paranoia, fragmented identity, international hegemony, state-sanctioned violence, and the interdependence of light and darkness, among many others.

The 25th Ward: The Silver Case (シルバー事件25区), usually referred to as just The 25th Ward, is an adventure game directed by Goichi Suda and developed by Grasshopper Manufacture. It was initially released exclusively in Japan, episodically over flip-phone download services. As these services shut down in 2011, the game was unable to be played for several years until Grasshopper and Active Gaming Media released a full remake in 2018, which also featured new content. The 25th Ward is a direct sequel to Grasshopper's first game, The Silver Case, and also takes place after other sequel Flower, Sun, and Rain.
