Overview
The Jesuits send a new member of their order, a young priest named Father Had, to the court of the wealthy Countess Maria, in order to convince her to turn her wealth and land away to the order. Had is conflicted about this and his doubts further increase after his relationship with Maria becomes romantic in nature.
